Not too long ago, I quit my job in order to take some break off the regular 9-to-5. After working in the IT industry for more than 10 years up until this point, I felt that for me, it was not only the right time for that long overdue break from work in general, but that I would also like to reassess my specific interests in software engineering, technology and work overall.

Most of my career I have spent within the web application development field, sometimes working full-stack as an individual contributor, but the majority of the time leading software projects as a technical lead and building single page applications with EmberJS (If you’re newer to the field or just someone who hasn’t spent too much time in the frontend tech world and you’re now confused about what I’m talking about here, I got you).

After so many years of becoming more and more specialized in a very specific technical niche, I’m now wondering if I should pivot in a slightly different direction career-wise. I’d be curious to learn more about machine learning, data science, cyber security, but also about those things that are part of building a career in tech that are not just about adopting a new technology.

I want to spend my time extending my horizon beyond what I know right now and share my learnings throughout this discovery journey with you on a regular basis through this blog and newsletter. I’m not sure how a regular schedule would exactly look like yet, but I’m sure it will become clearer for me soon.

Until then, I hope you enjoy some of my writings on technology on an unpredictable schedule, and see you soon!
